Who are we

Shepherds Walks was set up in 1999 by Jon Monks, who at that time was a full time Hill Shepherd in Northumberland. More used to looking after sheep he started shepherding people around the hills, rather than sheep.

The business grew quickly as people appreciated the personal touch that a small business could offer and Jon is still active in leading the majority of the walks throughout the year.

As all the Shepherds Walks staff live in the area of our walking holidays, they have a wonderful working knowledge of the trips that we have on offer.

 The Shepherds Walks office is based at Kirkharle Courtyard, Northumberland with ten other businesses. Being based in a restored barn in the heart of rural Northumberland enables us to taste the fresh air daily that you will experience on your walks in this special part of the UK.
